The sit and wait is a terrible service , people have jobs and need a specific time , it took over a hour of waiting. It's not healthy spending more time than needed in a room full of sick people. You need more of a mixture of same day for very ill people and you should be able to get an appointment within a week.
I called a wk and a half in advance and was told nothing available other than sit and wait on the day . I remember before the surgery moved you had no problem getting appointments on the day or within a few days
I had a telephone consultation with Dr Banagee today. He was lovely and very helpful. He explained everything to me . As I am 80 years of age I don't take everything in very quickly but he was very patient and explained. A very kind Doctor and I hope you keep him at your surgery.
I have been trying to make a telephone appointment since my blood and urine test 10days ago to try and find out what are my borderline and test numbers are on my Kidney results as I have had problems before. Nobody are allowed to tell me except a doctor whom I cannot get in touch with. I am told to make a appointment which will be two weeks waiting .All I want to know - am I low on something or eating the wrong items etc.. I am told to have another test in three months time. As it says at the bottom, great keep going, I hope so.
It seems to have become practically impossible to get an appointment/treatment from these doctors these days. For a normal appointment you need to give 2 weeks notice, for a contraception appointment you need to give 6 weeks notice.
I needed a repeat prescription for my contraception medication and couldn't wait 6 weeks so I had to attend the walk in clinic where I sat for 1 1/2 hours to be seen for no more than 5 mins and handed my prescription. Upon taking my prescription to my local chemist I was informed that this medication is now discontinued and that I would need to contact the doctor to get a replacement. I called the surgery at 10.30am and was told that someone would come back to me once they had spoken to a doctor. By 5pm I had made 3 phone calls to the surgery and still didn't have a replacement prescription. I know that the doctors are busy but so am I.
I also appreciate that appointments are valuable these days so I always try not to attend the doctors unless really necessary which is why I get repeat prescriptions sent straight to my chemists and I will request call backs instead of coming in. But what is the point of doing that to give the surgery a bit more breathing space when you are not going to get the same level of treatment/attention that every patient deserves.
I have been a patient with these Doctors before they merged into a Medical Centre and the service was much better then. It seems to me that the Medical Centre has more patients than it can handle.
Always a battle to get an appointment either short term or long term. Required to jump through hoops, give information to office that should only be told to a doctor and also call at specific times. Very frustrating. Appointments staff, one in particular, is very rude/abrupt.
Getting an appointment for a child/infant though is very easy.
